Discover your place in student media

Steven Hames, Campus Carrier and Viking Fusion Adviser and Chip McElroy, Ramifications and Valkyrie Adviser

The day has finally come! You are now a college student! Some of you will be excited. Some of you will be nervous. Some of you can’t wait to dive in, while others will approach things more cautiously. And you know what? Whichever camp you fall into is just fine. Not everyone’s path is the same.

What will be the same for everyone is that you will be discovering new things and new people. You will have new experiences, and for many of you, you will be looking for a new place to call home.

But where will you find those new places and those new people? Where will you learn those new things? Where will you find new entertainment to enjoy?

We have an answer for you… Berry College Student Media! With Student Media, you can learn the news that affects are campus, you can enjoy listening to or watching podcasts and short films, you can enjoy reading about lifestyles and culture, and you can immerse yourself in the writing and art of your fellow students. Or better yet, you can become a staff member at one of our four award-winning student media organizations.

The Campus Carrier is our digital newspaper, which publishes on a weekly basis throughout the year. Look for new Carrier stories every Thursday afternoon and sign up for the email edition.

Ramifications is our 32-page literary magazine and is published once toward the end of each semester. The magazine also sponsors an “open-mike” poetry reading once
each semester.

Valkyrie is our 80-page lifestyle and culture magazine produced by students. The magazine is published two times each academic year.

Viking Fusion is Berry’s multimedia outlet, which provides the campus with news, entertainment and live sports.

Campus Carrier and Viking Fusion collaborate on weekly news coverage.

Student media content is created by students for students. All of our media outlets are student managed and produced.

If you can’t find what you are looking for from one of our organizations, then bring us your ideas. We are constantly looking for diverse views and perspectives. We may even put you to work for us!

If you like to tell stories through writing, photography, film, audio, acting before a camera, or making graphics, then we have a place for you!

If you are interested in working for any of our organizations, please come to our first staff meeting. We expect no prior experience and we will train you. Students of all majors are welcome and desired.

Once you join our team as a staff member you will find a family of caring and creative fellow students, who will welcome you with open arms!
